Special Troop Committee Meeting!!!!

A special called meeting of the Troop 260 Committee will take place during the regular troop meeting on Tuesday, March 31, 2009. The purpose of the meeting is for Taylor Brown to present his proposed Eagle project for committee approval. Taylor is working on this project in conjunction with the mission team for Central Methodist and the local group Rebuilding Decatur. Their timeline is relatively short and, therefore, he is attempting to get approval as quickly as possible. I would appreciate all committee members (or any others interested) attending. The Eagle project is the culmination of all of Taylor’s prior scout training and he deserves a well attended meeting. Thanks,

Chris Pettey

Interim Committee Chairman

Ski Trip 2009

We had a great turnout for the ski trip. We all arrived at the church early on Saturday morning 2/14/09 to load up and head for West Virginia. We finally made our destination at around 4:30, checked into our rooms, changed our clothes, and headed to Winterplace! Saturday night was spent snowtubing and playing cards and spoons with Mr. Wahl. The tubing lanes were extra slick and icy and all of us got going really easy! The next morning we ate breakfast and headed back for a day of skiing and boarding. It was a wonderful day and we had a clear sky with beautiful weather. That evening we all took a break and loaded up to go eat at Ryan's. The boys all chowed down after a day full of skiing. Some of the boys decided to load back up and have another round of skiing and boarding after dinner. The night skiing is the best! It started to snow on our way back to the mountain and it just snowed harder as time moved on. This was my first trip skiing and I absolutely loved it and can't wait for next year! Here is a picture of how excited the boys were to be leaving! It was freezing and snowing and everybody was ready to just get on the road! Hope everyone had a great time!

Annual Climbling Wall Event

We all gathered up at Decatur General West last week for the annual climbing wall event. This event helps us to share with the 5th grade Webelos what scouting is like after they leave cub scouts. We had a few webelos show up and they all seemed to have a great time. The food was excellent, especially the donuts! Laura S. had a great slide show of pictures from scouting events. Thanks to everyone who came out to help!
